SAD - Seasonal Affective Disorder
By Ashley Bretting, M.s.
SEASONAL AFFECTIVE DISORDER Is it me or is it the time of year? While Autumn is a favorite time of year for many, it is often associated with SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder). What is SAD? It is a reaction to the onset of shorter days and less available sunlight. This can be associated with a biological reaction often resulting in low mood, lethargy, depression and more. Geographic areas that experience few sunny days and rainy regions ( Seattle, Washington for example ) can result in a higher population with similar symptoms. Sunlight is what the brain is need of, there are products out on the market that simulate natural sunlight these may prove helpful. There is help and guidance, contact me or a local professional for further assistance.
